Carol S. Harbaugh | Funeral

Carol S. Harbaugh
December 07, 1937 - February 10, 2012

Biography

Carol S. “Susie” Harbaugh 74 of Loveland, Colorado passed away. She had COPD and complications from it lead to hospitalization in early January. While there she had a stroke and caught pneumonia. This eventually became more than her body could handle. She accepted her savior Jesus Christ and on February 10, 2012, he took her home.

Susie was born December 7, 1937 in Denver, Colorado to Albert and Dorothy Briels.

She was the oldest of five children. She grew up in Denver, Colorado. In 1954 at the age of seventeen she and Ernest began dating. They married December 19, 1958.

Her husband’s employment with Public Service Co. Of Colorado, Bureau of reclamation and the Western Area Power Administration took them from Denver, Colorado, to Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Dutch John, Utah and in 1971 they settled in Loveland Colorado.

Susie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and Nana. She was always there when it counted, no matter what. Susie was always our passenger until Jesus took the wheel, for she never learned to drive.

In her younger years she worked as a ticket taker at Center Theater in Denver. Uncle Harold (no play/work all day) was often caught by Susie taking in a matinee. She simply pretended not to notice, as she often did. But when it counted, little went unnoticed.

She carried with her till the end a mothers love and pride in all her children.

In addition to raising her own four children, Susie provided in home care for numerous preschool aged children in her earlier years. Her greatest joy however came from caring for her granddaughters and great granddaughter. They all have fond memories of coloring for and with her, especially in her Precious Moments coloring books.

Susie enjoyed fishing, camping, ATVing, dirt track racing and the great outdoors. Watching birds, animals, and the beautiful Colorado sunsets were priceless to her. Gardening was her passion, she had 54 rose bushes, beautiful hyacinths and we all learned early on, what ever you do don’t pick her pansies. A bouquet of dandelions won her heart just the same. She enjoyed a good song and loved to dance. She and Ernest still enjoyed going out to dinner together. She enjoyed watching television. She was a big NASCAR and Bronco’s fan. Soaps, game shows and animal programs were among her favorites. Give her a cold Mountain Dew, bowl of popcorn, a good program and she was content.

Mom Sissy told me daughters do what daughters have to do. We did, we will, we promise.

Thanks for the S.S.O., we all love you this much (5,400,300 hugs and kisses) and more.

Susie, my love “we’ll gently walk, and sweetly talk/Till the silent moon shines clearly/I’ll grasp thy waist, and, fondly prest/Swear how I love thee dearly.” Ernie (Robert Burns).
